General Information
The Max McGraw Wildlife Foundation Research Game Farm is located on Illinois Route 25 between Elgin and Dundee, approximately one mile north of I-90 (Northwest Tollway).

Over the past 40 years the Game Farm has been involved in a variety of studies to improve our ability to raise and release game birds. Topics include feeding and nutritional analyses, breeding, hatching, and rearing techniques, and nesting structures just to name a few. The Game Farm property contains over 20 acres of pens, brooder facilities, and a modern hatchery. We maintain our own breeding stock and produce over 90,000 ring-necked pheasant chicks and approximately 5000 Hungarian partridge chicks annually. Bred for their uniform color, excellent flying ability, wildness and size, our pheasants and partridge are truly high quality birds.

Through participation in the National Poultry Improvement Plan, all breeder birds are blood tested annually helping us maintain healthy, disease free breeder flocks.

We hatch pheasant chicks every Monday for 12 weeks starting the last Monday in April. The majority of our sales are day-old chicks and are available for purchase at the Game Farm. Small orders of 1-100 are available with minimal notice. Larger orders must be scheduled in advance. We require a 25% deposit to confirm your order. The balance is due upon pick-up. We Do Not Ship Birds.

We raise approximately 25,000 chicks to maturity and offer a limited number of these mature birds for sale starting in October. If you need a large number of adult birds and want to guarantee availability, orders must be placed in February or March. Most of our adult bird sales are to be picked up at the Game Farm however; we do have a limited delivery service within the local area. Whether you are looking for day-old chicks, started birds, or adult birds for your club, dog training, or release, give us a call and check for availability.

Max McGraw Wildlife Foundation is a member of the Illinois Hunting and Outdoor Sports Association (IHOSA). The Game Farm is recognized as a leader for its research and rearing procedures. The birds developed and the decades of research have greatly advanced the opportunity for bird stocking and management.
